#1 Winter at Home

As the cold winter days settle in, and the wet and windy weather follows us around, I’ve been enjoying the little things- noticing magnolias, and picking grapefruit and lemons from the tree in the backyard. Pink camellias surround my home, and they bring back memories of my grandparents’ house in Kagoshima. We kids would float around while the gardeners trimmed the camellias, shaping the traditional Japanese garden we grew up in.

As nature prepares quietly for spring, I feel myself wanting to do the same- to wrap up, step back from the chaos, and enjoy being at home. Coffee in one hand, probably more sweet treats than usual in the other. In today’s fast-paced, noisy world, I find myself craving slower, warmer moments with loved ones. To sit in the nothingness, and to notice peace in the smallest moments- the ones we usually take for granted.

Coffee has taken me on many paths, and now it feels like it’s teaching me once again: to sit with it, enjoy its simplicity, and notice how soothing and full of flavour it really is when there’s no noise around it.

I love the subtle way a good cup of coffee can move you.
