Sousougama – Pottery Rooted in Daily Life

There’s something quietly beautiful about pieces that feel effortless in every setting -and this small plate is exactly that.

Crafted using the traditional Japanese pottery technique called Neriage, each piece is created by layering different coloured clays, cutting, stacking and kneading them together until the pattern becomes part of the clay itself -much like marbled cookies or Kintaro candy, where the design runs all the way through, not just on the surface.

In all of his pieces of work, the artist’s purpose is simple yet deeply meaningful - to create something useful for everyday life. Pieces that aren’t meant to sit hidden away, but to become part of daily rituals, shared meals and quiet moments at home.

Finished with a delicate balance of half-gloss and half-matte textures, it catches the light softly while still feeling grounded and organic in the hand.

Small plates such as this are some of the most versatile pieces to own. Perfect for serving sweets, breakfast sides, pastries, shared dishes or simply as a beautiful resting place for everyday moments. It’s the kind of piece that quietly complements any dish and naturally belongs wherever it’s placed.

Functional art made to be used, loved and lived with daily.
